Originally trained as a civil engineer, Steve started in forestry as a roading engineer in 1994.  He then became involved with harvest engineering and began to learn about the forestry industry from the ground up... literally.

Steve joined Ernslaw One in 2004 and, as one of three regional managers, he is committed to helping the team live the company’s vision and values through their everyday actions.  He is responsible for people, financial, operational and environmental best practice, stakeholder engagement and supporting contractors in their work to ensure health and safety is a priority.

A major focus for Steve is building teams and growing people through training, development and mentoring.

Fitness is very important to Steve and he spends a lot of his spare time outdoors – walking, swimming, cycling, running and snowboarding.  He has completed a half Ironman as well as triathlons.  Given that his other passion for international travel has been curtailed, Steve enjoys getting out into the garden and cooking.
