Appointment of Head of Environmental Performance

Amy Robinson appointed Head of Environmental Performance

Amy Robinson has been appointed Head of Environmental Performance at Ernslaw One.

She will be responsible for delivering national environmental performance that meets industry standards, and regulatory and legislative compliance requirements through education, coaching and support to staff and contractors across all Ernslawoperations.

Responsibility extends to identifying technology platforms, tools, operating models and culture to deliver improved performance, accountability and engagement with environmental goals.

Amy was previously Forest Improvement Manager at Ernslaw when the opportunity to step up to the senior management role presented itself. With more than 12 years in the forest industry she has moved quickly through various operational roles, starting out as Log Production Coordinator, Amy then progressed to Harvest Planning Manager, Forest Manager and Production Manager.

Amy says she’s very excited about her new role and the opportunity to implement meaningful change for the business to help meet environmental performance goals.

“I’m looking forward to working with an amazing team of high calibre people, who are all specialists in their roles.  Empowering our people to have the confidence to make good decisions around environmental performance and having good systems and processes to support them is key to achieving our goals.”

Amy’s passion for the environment saw her forming, and is chair of, the Southern Environmental working group, which sits under the Southern Wood Council.  The aim being to bring regional councils and industry together in collaborative relationships to share knowledge, educate and build networks.

As well as being the lead for the environmental team, Amy will also join the Senior Management Team.

Ernslaw CEO, Darren Mann, says Amy brings a strong skill set across change leadership, technology, understanding the balance between commercial and environmental and the ability to operationalise and measure goals.

“We have a strong focus on quantifying the improvements that we’re making with environmental management and Amy’s excellent operational experience and environmental understanding will help us get there,” says Mann.

Ernslaw has long been in Amy’s sights.  When she was at Canterbury University, Ernslaw was a company that caught her attention and she thought one day she might work for them. “Ernslaw had a reputation for being diverse in their thinking and willing to innovate and try new things, from mushrooms to ginseng and freshwater crayfish.  It may be a forestry company but it’s not just about growing trees.”

Amy says being a family-owned business means that the decision makers are at the table or in the next office.  “There is no bureaucracy and there’s more flexibility to move when and wherever is necessary.  They value their people and they show that.”

Peter Weir has been appointed as Principal Environmental Advisor and will continue to provide strategic advice and support for environmental problem solving.  He will also mentor Amy through the initial stages of her role.
