We are part of the Oregon Group which consists of a diverse range of businesses including Winstone Pulp & Paper, The Neil Group, Innova, Lumberbank NZ, Lumberbank Australia and part ownership in Regal King Salmon.


Reporting to the Regional Manager, this Gisborne based leadership role has been created to provide a step change in our harvesting practices balancing safety and environmental compliance while achieving continuous improvement across our operational practices. We are looking for candidates with strong values-based people leadership capability, strong technical/operational knowledge, commercial acumen and the ability to influence positive change.
You will have proven experience with building empowered teams with a focus on coaching and supporting staff for success. Your ability to engage contractors in a positive manner is key to reach the standards we require with our transformational change plans.


Key responsibilities:

  • Champion 100% safe across all harvesting operations leveraging support from our H&S team.
  • Facilitate strong collaborative relationships between operational and environmental teams to look after the land and meet our regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Deliver agreed production targets ensuring quality standards are met, value is maximised and budgets are met/exceeded.
  • Develop partnerships with contractors ensuring aligned values.
  • Promote collaborative working relationships across Ernslaw regional businesses by creating opportunities to share learnings and support the delivery of our strategic plan.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with customers, regulators, iwi, agents, ports and other forestry companies.
  • The ideal candidate will have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience in harvesting.
  • Proven focus on safety & environmental practice
  • Ability to effectively lead teams
